| Hello Outreach, I know of a family with two children, boy age 10 and girl age 13 that have recently fallen on hard times. Both parents were working full time. The kids were attending school and participated in hockey and girl guides. In the summer of 2006 the mother became very ill with a rare form of leukemia and consequently was unable to work and was not eligible for disability. Three months after her illness was diagnosed and she was off work her husband was laid off permanently due to a plant closure in Collingwood. He did receive a severance but the medical costs ate up their savings, RRSP's, college fund for the kids. Currently the father has found new employment but at a reduced hourly rate. The mother is still in and out of treatments and unable to work. They have been able to maintain the basics but I think would surely welcome your Christmas cheer. Thank you for considering this family |
